My name is Guillaume, I’m 35 years old and I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 22 years ago. I love outdoor sports such as surfing, kite-surfing, snowboarding, ski touring, rock climbing and scuba diving. I practise them regularly, depending on the season and my travels.
The aim is to use an educational video documentary and a blog to show that it is possible for diabetics to take part in outdoor adventure sports safely and confidently.
Do diabetics in different countries manage their sporting activities differently? Are they encouraged to practise their favourite sport? How do the sporting federations consider diabetes? Do the rules and regulations concerning the practice of extreme sports differ from country to country? Is there a common attitude or are there big differences between countries?
These are the questions we are going to ask during our interviews.
The first interview is planned in August-September 2014
The role of this website is to federate, inform and give support to all those concerned by diabetes and extreme sports.
My aim is to set up a general website on diabetes and extreme sports, to provide quick access to clear, useful information for diabetics who practise or who would like to practise extreme sports and point them towards more specialist information.
